Medway Brain Tumour Support Group

About MBTSG

The Medway Brain Tumour Support Group (MBTSG) has just celebrated its 7th anniversary in February last.

Originally setup for those people suffering some sort of brain tumour or cancer and their carers, (spouses, parents, sons and daughters and friends); who would like to meet like-minded people to share problems.

It has now been extended beyond Medway to include neighbouring councils and boroughs such as Gravesend, Bearstead, High Halstow. Anyone is welcome to attend, they just need to turn up and discuss issues surrounding their diagnosis following surgery.

It has been recognised that the follow-up support is not always there or entirely helpful, and by sharing their thoughts within a friendly and safe environment can be useful for many. For the price of a cuppa (Tea or Coffee) and a biscuit in return for £1, all can share their anxieties, worries such as what’s next in the treatment plan, how to enquire about benefits, what to do about regaining your driving license from DVLA following an operation or seizure.

We occasionally hold raffles, quiz nights to supplement our income and work with BrainsTrust and Brain Tumour Research, two organisations at the forefront of supporting the fight against this horrible disease.

In addition every 3 months or so we attend an event managed by Jane Gardiner of BrainsTrust, called a Meetup where we meetup at a pre-arranged venue in Zizzi in Bluewater for Pizza. That is normally well attended!!
